Scott Brown
For OpenNetworks, Scott provides the technical vision. Scott has been working with open source solutions as well as Linux since 1996 when he replaced an oddly functioning Windows NT print server with a Linux-based Samba server at Texas Parks and Wildlife. Computer Security and Linux has been his main focus over the last 10 years and has led to his current job as an Information Security Analyst for the City of Austin. He currently is certified in Red Hat Linux as well as General Linux administration and holds Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) certification. He is involved in the following community groups: the Austin Linux Group, Austin Wireless, Austin Wireless City Project, Austin FreeNet.

Planning, implementation and support of Windows NT/95 network including Microsoft Exchange 5.5 Server and Internet database connectivity. Wide Area Network (WAN) planning and implementation using Virtual Private Network (VPN) technology for the state of Texas' first statewide Windows NT domain.
UNIX/Linux/NT integration using Samba, NFS. UNIX (Solaris 2.5, CDE) system administration. Linux (Redhat 5.2-6.2, WindowMaker) system administration.
HTML programming of TPWD web pages (www.tpwd.state.tx.us). Programmer for Texas Wetlands Online and statewide data warehouse for water recreational opportunities in Texas.
Worked with ActiveX, Active Server Page technology, VBScript, Javascript, Visual Studio, Visual Basic 5.0/6.0, Visual InterDev, Access97 and SQL Server 6.5/7.0. Created custom Internet Explorer 3.0/4.0 and Active Server Page applications for TPWD Intranet including database driven Help Desk and FAQ.
Geographic Information System spatial analysis of state parks using ARC/INFO 7.2 and ArcView 2.1/3.0. Worked with ESRI MapObjects ActiveX controls and used for Internet GIS data distribution. GPS field data collection.

Chief Technology Officer and Co-Founder
Provided strategic technology vision and leadership for Triptych. Oversaw product development for a Linux-based set-top Digital Media Center, a consumer broadband security device as well as the organization's technology systems, operations and applications. Managed all aspects of the information technology architecture, including databases, Internet, e-mail and web. Responsible for the company's overall technology budget, technology purchasing and business development. Principle author of six patent applications and co-authored one for an Internet set-top and security system. Served as interim Open Source Coordinator and company developer liaison.
